Grand Theft Auto 4 is arguably the most anticipated new release of the decade, and the wait is about to be over with it’s imminent release on April 29th. If you haven’t already pre-ordered it, do it now - as it could well be banned in your country very soon.

GTA 4 brings us back to the streets of Liberty City, Rockstars’ fictional imitation of New York. The streets are just as rough in Liberty City, perhaps rougher, and Rockstar has gone to great lengths to re-create some of New York’s most recognizable landmarks to feature in your destructive reign of crime.
You take the role of Russian outcast Nikolai Bellic, or Niko. Niko comes to Liberty City with a dream, a dream imagined for him by his cousin Roman. A dream of easy money, easy women and the good life.

From the start you will feel as if you’re standing in the middle of Time Square but your surroundings soon become far more grimey as you find yourself at the foot of the criminal underworld - as with all previous GTA titles. You will however feel a level of freedom from the start, never before experienced with Grand Theft Auto titles, as the original mission-based story lines take a backseat and you’re left to explore the open city, after the usual period of introduction sequences.

As you would expect on the XBox 360 and PS3, the level of detail in the characters, buildings, vehicles and even weapons is incredible and the city feels alive. You’ll notice bums laying on the sidewalk - do to them what you wish. Other touches such as wind-blown trash, steaming manholes and the hectic traffic you would expect from a bustling city all add to the games atmosphere.

Escaping the long-arm of the law is often frustrating enough, so news that loading screens are now a thing of the past is a huge relief. The game will continuously load behind the scenes as you play, creating a flawless gaming experience, and you won’t lose all those precious weapons when you’ve paid a visit to the emergency rescue ward at the local hospital!

One site in particular that caught my eye recently in Australia allows you to not only rate online shopping websites but also submit, rate & comment on the latest discount coupons, vouchers & other online bargains that are floating around online today.

There’s a lot of money to be made on the web—you know, I know it, everyone knows it.

But even if you have the most incredible web pages ever, it’s no good if people can’t find them.

That’s why you need a Google site map.

Google site maps let people find every page you have quickly and easily.

But to make a Google site map you have to install a script onto your web site, and then try to get that script to run, right?

Let me ask you something: how much time do you spend hassling with scripts that are supposed to make Google site maps for you? Too much?

Yeah, me too. Those stupid scripts never seemed to work right and I was spending half my day sometimes trying to sort them out. I’d install them on my site, then experience massive frustration trying to get them to run. (more…)

With so much talk about search engines putting a damper on direct reciprocal links, the hunt for the elusive one-way inbound link is on.

As someone who works with small business website owners, I’ve heard just about every inbound-linking scheme there is. In the end, I’ve only seen five strategies that really work consistently for getting hundreds of links.

Less Effective One-Way Link Strategies

Yet there’s perennial interest in alternative linking strategies. They range from bad to OK, but none offer as much potential as the five major ways of getting links.

* Link farms never seem to die. The latest variations try to pass themselves off as viral marketing, but are really a sort of endless pyramid scheme: you link to me, so I link to someone else, who links to someone else, and on and on down the line. Link farms can get you delisted from search engine indexes, so don’t even try them.

* Affiliates can provide you with one-way inbound links if you use affiliate software that links directly to your site rather than through a redirect. But many, many affiliates are now placing all their affiliate links in redirects of their own invention, to help protect their commissions from pirates who will simply apply to the program themselves to get a discount.

* Posting to web forums and blogs regularly will get you one-way inbound links, but they’ll only have search-engine value a small percentage of the time. Many blogs and bulletin boards use search-engine-unfriendly dynamic file formats, automatically encase links in script, or use robot instructions to prevent spiders from following links.

* Many one-way inbound linking strategies fall into the great-if-you-are-lucky-enough-to-get-it category, such as winning a web award or being featured on a high-PageRank website just for being so great.

* Other one-way incoming link strategies are in the this-will-take-forever-to-get-anywhere category, such as offering to provide testimonials to all your vendors in exchange for a link to your site. Deal or No Deal embarked on its worldwide tour last night by first making a stop in the wonderful Philippines. (Which in reality was their 2nd stop on the actual trip.)

For three episodes, Howie, a skeleton crew, and American contestants traveled to three different countries to play their versions of Deal or No Deal, playing by their rules, using their music, models, and set, and co-hosting with the local hosts.

Last night, Howie brought two Americans to the set of Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal (KDOND) in Manila, Philippines. The local version is aired on ABS-CBN and is one of the most watched shows in the country. Plus, it is broadcast worldwide through The Filipino Channel, except to North America.

Because of that, it was very exciting for me to finally see how Filipinos do DOND.

Though not fundamentally different, KDOND airs (or used to, as it is on hiatus now to make way for the local version of Wheel of Fortune) daily in a half-hour timeslot. Because of that, the Philippine version has the high energy host Kris Aquino guide the contestants through a faster paced show. (more…)
